How to Make a Junk Phone Case

This junk phone case craft is the perfect activity to do with friends or for a fun craft night. I love how you don’t really need to think too much about what you’re doing. The idea is to just cover the DIY resin phone case with fun charms and embellishments. See below for the exact supplies I used and the tutorial. 

Junk Phone Case Supplies

• Clear phone case (you could also use a colored case if you prefer)
• UV Resin – This is the exact UV resin I used but here is another great Amazon UV resin option
  • ⚠️ Safety Disclaimer: UV resin should be used with proper protective gear and ventilation. Always research and follow all recommended safety precautions. Use at your own risk.
• UV Light – You do have the option of letting the resin cure in the sunlight but I used a UV light and it’s one of the best purchases I have made for crafting.
• Charms:
  • Color Specific charms
  • Mixed Color Charms
  • Rhinestones
  • Nail Charms
  • Gummy bear charms
  • Clay Slices
  • Flat pearls
• Tweezers
• Nail file or sand paper

Step-by-Step Directions

• Start by scratching up your phone case with a nail file or some sand paper. This will help make the embellishments adhere better.

• Next, add some UV resin to a small corner of the phone case. I like to start in one bottom corner and work my way up diagonally. ⚠️ Safety Disclaimer: UV resin should be used with proper protective gear and ventilation. Always research and follow all recommended safety precautions. Use at your own risk.

• Spread the resin evenly in the area you applied it using a paintbrush. I used a cheap brush that I didn’t mind throwing away.

• Add charms one by one using tweezers.

• Once your design is to your liking, put the phone case under a UV lamp to cure. Mine only needed about 120 seconds to cure. You can also try curing outside in the sunlight if using UV resin but I’m unsure how long the curing time will be.
