I came across some mini Jack O’ Lantern candy buckets and just knew I had to figure out a fun way to craft with them. Using my favorite crafting technique, I decoupaged some pretty napkins onto them and turned them into adorable little decoupage jack o’ lantern buckets that could hold candy, succulents and more.
Below are the exact supplies I used and step-by-step directions. If you like this fall craft idea, check out how to use the same technique for other decoupage crafts.

Supplies
- Mini Jack O’ Lantern Buckets
- Spray Primer
- Napkins – I used these dark blue floral napkins, light blue floral napkins and turquoise and pink flower napkins. If you want a variety of napkins in one set, check out this assorted napkins set.
- Mod Podge – I always use matte Mod Podge
- Gold Paint
- Foam brushes or a paint brush
Directions for Decoupage Jack O’ Lantern Craft
Step 1. Start by spraying the mini jack o’ lantern buckets with a spray primer. I like to use this paint and primer spray.

Step 2. Next, separate your napkins to a single ply. Most napkins are 2-ply so you only need to remove one layer.

Step 3. Tear the single ply napkin into small pieces. I tried to keep my pieces to the height of the pumpkin.

Step 4. Add a small amount of Mod Podge directly to the bucket.

Step 5. Place a napkin piece on top of the Mod Podge glue and then add another thin layer on top.

Step 6. Continue to work your way around the pumpkin by adding thin layers of Mod Podge and napkins.

Step 7. Once the entire pumpkin is covered you can add details like a painted gold handle, ribbon or rhinestone details.

With your finished buckets you can add candy or succulents and they will make the perfect little gift to give to friends for fall and Halloween.
